FOCUS! FOCUS! FOCUS! by Mike Lane

The following is a reprint of my husband’s prayer letter that was sent to our supporting churches:

Several years ago, our daughter had directed her three year old daughter Hannah, to pick up her toys and things in her room.  Hannah,as a young child, was easily distracted from the task at hand and would begin to play with her toys rather than putting them away.  Kristy went to Hannah's room to check on the progress and found her daughter had begun to play rather than completing her job.  She exclaimed, "Hannah!"...at which point her daughter replied, and began to gesture with her hands, making a forward and backwards motion, "I know Mom...FOCUS...FOCUS...FOCUS!!!”

I use that incident to illustrate the danger that we as Christians and churches encounter in our lives and ministries.  I see some churches changing directions and allowing less opportunities for missionaries to present the needs and challenges of their fields of service.  This usually results in less resources being available to the foreign fields of evangelism.  Personal experience and that of other Pastors has shown that maintaining the balance between home needs and "regions beyond" needs enables God to supply "all our need according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus" (Phil.4:19).  It is ALWAYS A WALK BY FAITH for individuals and the corporate body of the church.  I have seen God bless myself, others, AND the church as it made decisions to step out and be a blessing to their Pastors, Missionaries, and others. Remember...we must always try to FOCUS on what our Master has commanded us to do, be witnesses BOTH in Jerusalem AND  unto the uttermost part of the earth! (Acts 1:8)

The ministry continues to go well in Honduras. A new church building just went up in Quebrada de Lajas, our closest work to La Esperanza. God enabled us to finally purchase land last year after years of trying and God directed the Liberty Baptist Church, Kingston, Tenn., to help their missionaries and our co-laborers, Jason and Arlen Stevens in putting up the building. This was Jason's first building project and I know he learned a lot about costs and dealing with the people and all the issues of building...invaluable experience.  They are a great blessing to us, along with our faithful people serving along side of us all. They are winning souls and faithfully going to different communities to witness. The old vehicles keep carrying them and the gospel to remote corners of our area, if we can maintain the repairs on them.  THANK YOU for all you do to help us.  Each of YOU ARE IMPORTANT to a continued and active ministry!

PRAY FOR US AND PRAY FOR REVIVAL IN AMERICA  AND THAT CHRISTIANS WILL EXERCISE DISCERNMENT AND HEAVENLY WISDOM IN THE UPCOMING DECISIONS IN AMERICA!
