Bio for Mike and Debbie Lane
Missionaries since 1994

Debbie and I grew up in the Calvary Baptist Church of Grand Prairie, Texas under the ministry of Pastor Dr. E.K. Oldham, who was also the President of Bible Baptist Seminary / Arlington Baptist College, which we both attended. We both received Christ as children and surrendered to Missions in our youth. After Seminary, I served for 5 years on staff as Music and Youth Minister at Central Baptist Church in Deer Park, TX, then one year back at Calvary as Visitation Minister, Jr. High teacher, in addition to the printing ministry

Following God’s call, we moved to the “mission field” of the great northwest and the pastorate of Faith Baptist Church in Tacoma, WA. We enjoyed 14 years of fruitful ministry, seeing many saved and baptized. During that time, we also started a Christian school, began supporting 50 missionary families, and sent two missionary families out from the church. We also paid off all debts, bought two additional properties and had saved $60,000 towards the building program. After 14 years at Faith, we had around 35-40 families attending. It was then that God called us to the next “RegionBeyond” where we saw an even greater need for the Gospel.

After serving in the U.S. for 20 years, we went to Honduras, Central America, where we have been serving as missionaries since 1994. God has richly blessed, enabling us to have a part in starting and establishing 11 churches, assisting in the building programs of 16 churches, witnessing in over 25 communities, and training leadership in indigenous local Baptist churches. There are also about 40 students in the Bible Institutes in various locales. Currently, we are personally working in five communities. Since the beginning of this year, we have seen about 140 professions of faith. In January of 2014, we also had our first annual national youth leadership conference.

Further plans for the near future include starting a printing ministry (which is currently being set up), expansion of the Bible Institute to serve more of our leaders, and the completion of our church building in La Esperanza which will enable us to hold conferences in our own facilities.

TESTIMONY OF MIKE LANE

I was raised in Calvary Baptist Church of Grand Prairie, Texas, from a baby to adulthood. At the age of 10 years, I came under conviction of sin and the fear of hell, so after church one Wednesday night I prayed to receive Christ as my Savior. I believed in Him and His sacrifice as sufficient for my salvation. I was baptized the following Sunday night in September of 1962.

As a teenager, I surrendered my life to God and later to missions. After graduating from high school I attended Bible Baptist Seminary in Arlington, Texas for four years. In 1974, I began serving full-time on staff as Music and Youth director at Central Baptist Church, Deer Park, Texas. We were there for five years. Then after one year on staff as Visitation Minister at my home church, I accepted the pastorate of Faith Baptist Church in Tacoma, Washington. After 14 years of pastoring Faith Baptist I knew the next mission field for us was Honduras, Central America. We have been serving here since 1997.

God has blessed with hundreds saved and many baptized. Several churches have been established and currently we are working in 6 areas, establishing churches. We have a number of men studying in our institute, training as Christian workers and pastors.

TESTIMONY OF DEBBIE LANE

From the time I was a newborn, my parents had me in church. I was raised attending Calvary Baptist Church in Grand Prairie, Texas, under the ministry of Dr. Earl K. Oldham.

At the age of 6, I heard a message on hell and knew that that was a place that I did not want to go, so I went forward. After someone showed me some verses in the Bible, I prayed. Years later, at the age of 13, I was at Bible Camp and one of the leaders there had a heart attack. We were all worried about him and praying for him and people kept saying, “If he dies, at least we know he will be in Heaven.” For the first time, I began to realize that I didn’t KNOW FOR SURE that I would be in Heaven if I died. I remembered PRAYING at the age of 6, but I didn’t remember WHAT I had prayed. I didn’t remember feeling sorry for my sins or asking for forgiveness. I didn’t remember feeling the NEED for a Savior. I just remembered thinking that I would do what ever they told me to do to keep out of Hell. It’s possible that I was truly saved at age 6, but at the age of 13 I made SURE that I was truly born again! Since that time, I have never doubted where I would go at death.

Later that same year, I began to feel that God possibly wanted me to be a missionary when I grew up. Then, our Jr. High leader showed us the film “Through Gates of Splendor”. It scared me so bad that I decided that I never wanted to be a missionary! I just knew I would be killed! But I was so miserable, that finally, I told God that I couldn’t stand it. If He wanted me to be a missionary and for me to die on a lonely beach at the edge of some distant jungle, that that was exactly what I would do. I just didn’t want to feel miserable any more. After I surrendered to Him, His peace came and took away all my fear and doubts! During my Jr. High and High School years, I chose classes that I thought would be useful on the mission field. And so, from the age of 13 years, I KNEW FOR SURE that I was going to Heaven and that, I was going to be a missionary!

I have NEVER EVER regretted either decision!
